hello,
I am trying to book an appointment for h1b visa stamping at the Chennai Us consulate for Nov 29th but I see no dates available for Nov 2010 for Chennai.
Ony calcutta dates are available.
Can I book an emergency appointment in this situation?
I have been on h1 for the past 3 years.First came to US in 2004.Visa expired in 2006.
Extended h1b here in USA..Now going to India for the first time after visa expiry.
Also, for the stamping, should i carry all old LCA's or just the latest one?

That law is unconstitutional. INA doesnt say that everyone born in United States is a citizen. Even the Constitution says that. To deny birth-right citizenship to anyone (children of legal or illegal residents) would require constitutional amendment.
Constitutional amendment is not a joke. This bill is a rhetorical statement, not an intent to legislate it.
Good observation, although I totally support this clause to oppose automatic citizenship.

Every American who owns an IPOD and can surf the web thinks that he is hi-tech....
Americans still expect six figues salaries after high school educaiton....
My boss has been trying to hire a couple of EEs since the past couple of months but is not successful.....Ultimately he had to request me to find Indians graduating in the coming fall semester from the local university....
Also the poll shoule be structured as "Do you think American school system is not producing enough skilled workers with knowledge in STEM fields?"
'High tech jobs' and 'qualified workers' are all distractive terms for the larger malice in place: Americans taking for granted that jobs will be lined for them when they step out of college.
As a matter of fact Mr. Lou Dobbs is doing a big disservice to the American people by lying and not encounraging them to face the harsh truth that there is a lot of competition out there and please be prepared to face it.

You folks can apply for a Canadian immigration for yourself. It would take atleast 6 months. While she can live on Canadian bording city such as Windsor, and you can work in Detroit, MI. Detroit and Windsor are about 2 miles from each other, and I know many ppl who live in Windsro and work in Detroit.

I simply don't get it, first everyone blamed 245i cases and April 2001 deadline, we now passed this stage, I really don't see that many people from India are waiting for GC with PD 2001, so who are consuming these visas, there are only few guys from this year, most of my friends how applied during this year got their greencards

Try calling the DOS and explaining then what's going on and see who you can call to check the status next.
The lawyers email is text book response and may not help you much.
If the consulate didn't give you any slip during your interview then most likely it is PIMS related. Call up DOS!
i called DOS again and they say its in the final processing stage at the embassy..check with embassy..and embassy said waiting for information from DOS..i just hope VO doesnt send it back to DOS for more processing again...

I was not greatly familiar with the I 140 process and since long i was thinking of posting a question on the forum. Yesterday i saw this thread and tried searching if there are any answers to my Questions.
It was spot on. with in 15 minutes, thanks to the search engine i now know

For my recent in-laws trip, I took insurance from ICICI Lombard. As one of the previous poster mentioned they are tied up with United Healthcare and they give you an Identity Card from United Healthcare. I previously used United and they are pretty good. So its a reliable Insurance.
I took the platinum cover for my in-laws(age:mid 50s) and it came to around INR 16k for both of them for a 3 months stay, which I consider is reasonable, given a $ 250K coverage.
Previously when my parents came, I have taken ICICI Lombard. Though I was lucky enough that they did not have any medical issues and I did not need to show up at any doctor/hospital.

No. Drop box is out. You have to go for an interview, because they need to fingerprint you. I would advise applying at the consulate nearest your residence. BTW, there is link on the VFS website to check the latest interview date, I checked it over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see May 12th as the most recent date available. It seems the consultae has changed their policies to provide returning people on the same visa status a priority in getting appointments.

Now that i have my I-140 approved for over an year now and never filed for 485, does the similar/same job/field apply in case of a job change or can i have a new job responsibility with a new employer and then port my PD based upon the approved 1-140 from previous employer?

good one my friend...but even with SKIL how many of us are already sooooooooo frustrated and sick of waiting that we / they may still think twice about enduring the famous I-485 stage nuances (name checks, background checks and all other checks) and with all that in mind still decide to 'hang in' and eventually get GC ..?
Anyways, I'm afraid GC just turned into a great 'Waiting for Godot' situation - but we haven't realized it yet :rolleyes:
