You guys are just delusional at this point.
No, follow our "logic" (I'll use the term loosely and admit to doing so).
1. Merom is out.
2. Other laptop makers have release Merom machines, or will do so in the very near future.
3. IF Apple wants to stay competitive with other laptop makes THEN it must also release a Merom laptop line within a similar timeframe.

The other is at a media event with a keynote. As we don't know how much of an upgrade this will be (just chip or case redesign?) it is not unreasonable to assume that the next major even may involve this release, given that the MacBook Pro is a product line at least tangential to photography for a lot of people. Neither is it unreasonable to think they would release them the week before as they did with the iMac.

I'm pretty sure there will countless companies willing to take on Apple as a new customer.
just because countless are willing does not mean they have the ablity to produce the output demands at the quality Apple wants.
Also when a company gets the reputations of distrust with its partners prices are generally raised and they are less willing to work with them. It is a bad idea to chew up and spit out companies. Remember everyone talks. I have seen enough of the deals that go on that one one really knows about.

If you look closely though, Microsoft made LESS in revenue ($16billion to Apple's 20billion) but almost equally matches Apple in profit (5.3 billion to Apple's ~6billion). All things equal, Microsoft is still a better company in terms of profitability range due to their significant lower revenue but a close call on profit standards.

Look how they were able to pull off a revised Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a span of 2 months. That's true OEM muscle being flexed. Apple Knows this, hence their request to have the Galaxy devices removed from market.
What an absolute joke. I'm still a little shocked Apple is even suing.

I would love to see an Apple Phone with these features:
- At least 4 GB storage, preferably 8 GB.
- 3G (UTMS) / 2G (GSM) combo
- iPod/iTunes/Addressbook/iCal integration (duh!)
- BlueTooth
- less than 100g
- clamshell or candybar, no slider please
For less than 600 euros I would buy it instantly.
The market screams for an Apple phone. The above architecture is a basic excellent expected product. Still even a video ichat internet communicating device ( of course camera capable )
would be "hot" for the market inroading mac populace. C'mon Steve this cant be that challenging!!

Just picked up a 3.4GHz i7 with 8GB of RAM from the Apple Store. I took it home and installed a 256GB SSD to replace the hard drive inside. Installing the OS now. I'll post Geekbench numbers soon.

I think the whining (about notebooks being crap) is the fact that there is so much demand for it that Apple has no time to actually test the product.
It's a good thing that they offer free replacements for those that find defects actual defects in the machines. Usually the first batch is not so perfect, and that goes for all computer manufacturers.

What's the probability of being able to drop one of the newer, more powerful chips into my iMac sometime in the future? I mean, I've got 2GB RAM and a 500GB HDD, and a 256MB video card... A newer processor down the line should work well, right?The CPU is possible but you probably wouldn't want to it yourself. The hard drive is easier. The video card would require an entire logic board replacement.

A Movie Store would be great in theory, but as I've said before, it totally depends on how Apple structures it. Selection, compression, encoding, file sizes, txfer times, aspect ratios, cost/movie, etc. etc. Also, at the end of the day it doesn't matter in some respects since I'm in Canada and can't access the service regardless. :p ;)
Past this Movie Store though, Merom MacBooks are definitely due, and the Mac minis have to be right around the corner too, since they're still using Core Solo, let alone Core Duo and now Core 2 Duo. And, of course, that leaves the good old iMac as well - it would be nice to see it get a nice refresh with Conroe. :cool:

Still rockin' the 2008 24" Core2 Duo 3.06 Ghz iMac. Best Mac I've ever owned. Next Mac will be whatever the largest screen they make and fastest chip they have whenever this one dies. 100% sold on the iMac.
