My Weekly Girlcrush.

You'll know her from Legally Blonde, Walk The Line, Sweet Home Alabama, Cruel Intentions and a crap load more movies.

Yep, my Girlcrush this week is Reese Witherspoon.

Not only does she appear to be the sweetest woman ever, she jokes (?) about being a lesbian, as seen in this video here, doing an interview for her newest release Water For Elephants, which she stars in beside British Twilight actor, Robert Pattinson.

You heard it, Reese claims she is at least 55% lesbian. And I know, she's been married to a man, she has kids, but whatever. I like to think she was telling the truth.

Besides us now questioning her sexuality, Reese is so talented, she makes me melt with every movie I see her in.

When I first watched Cruel Intentions, I was stunned by her acting and her convincing good girl routine. Her real Hollywood 'moment' came with Walk The Line, in which she played Johnny Cash's wife, June Carter Cash, and later bagged herself a Best Actress Oscar for her stunning portrayal.

Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for a Southern American accent. (I know, no one likes a slack-jawed Texan accent, so I really don't know why I'm so attracted to it.) So when she first played Southern in Sweet Home Alabama, I melted. Imagine my luck when she did it again in Walk The Line.

She always plays a really sweet character, which is odd because I usually love badass bitches. But there's something about Reese that makes her so endearing.

Her talent is definitely what I love most about her, but I also have a thing for blondes and she's quite easy on the eyes, if you ask me.

So, Reese Witherspoon. How do you feel about her?

Born This Way Banned... AGAIN?!

Yep, you heard it. Lady Gaga's epic gay-loving album, Born This Way, has been banned in yet another country.

There's Gaga above, who won the Fashion Icon prize this week at the CDFA Fashion Awards.

Also this week, BTW was banned in Lebanon, after Father Abdo Abu Kassm, director of the Lebanon Catholic Information Centre announced the following:
"If they are going to offend us we are going to cancel the album. We will not accept that anyone insult the Virgin Mary or Jesus or Christianity ... Call us traditional, call us backward, call us whatever you want. We will not accept it."
So basically, Father Kassm is inviting us to call his people ridiculous. Surely if those religious people that this records 'offends' hate the idea of religious 'insults' so much, they just wouldn't buy it?

Also, have Lebanon not heard how Gaga herself is Catholic?

Gaga frequently mentions her love for God and her faith, prays every time she goes on-stage and her tweets reflect that fact.

Furthermore, she has explained the meaning of the song 'Judas' - one of the songs which is causing this controversy, and have revealed that Judas is simply a metaphor for a guy she dated and kept going back to, even though he betrayed her. (Which is sort of what happened in the Bible).

I'm also pretty sure that Gaga's hit single Born This Way, which contains the lyrics "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track, baby, I was born to survive", were some of those words that also offended said Catholic religion mongers.

Why don't they just censor or cut those words from the album? I mean, I'm sure Gaga would be opposed to it, but it doesn't mean that those in Lebanon who are struggling with their sexuality should be forbidden from hearing her song about individuality.

Personally, I find this ridiculous that today, free speech and freedom to purchase which music records you want to purchase are forbidden in certain countries.

Which country do you think will ban Born This Way next? Comment below!

Super Lesbian Photos

Okay, I can't be the only one who sees a an old photograph they've never come across before and gets excited about the profound lesbianity involved in the picture.

Right?

My reason for saying this is as follows:

Most people have probably already seen this, but being an idiot like I am, I hadn't before now.

Yep, that's previously married lesbian couple Melissa Etheridge (left) and her ex-wife Tammy Lynn Michaels (right). And if you don't know who the one in the middle is, well, get out of my sight. That's obviously Jessica Capshaw of Grey's Anatomy and The L Word fame.

I know Capshaw isn't a lesbian, she's married to a man and has two children, but she plays lesbians. And apparently, she associates with them too!

So, I just wanted to tell you that it made me, in teenage internet terms, 'squee'. (And I will never, ever use that word again, I promise).

What are your favourite lesbian-packed photographs?

Send me some links in the comments so I can s**e to them too!

My Weekly Girlcrush.

My crush this week is Meg Griffin.

I totally lie. No one likes Meg. (She's from Family Guy, if you weren't in on the joke...)

But my Girlcrush this week is the gorgeous Mila Kunis, the woman behind cartoon Meg's voice.

That's right, you may have only seen her in 2010 Oscar winning blockbuster Black Swan, or maybe, if you're a lesbian veteran, you'll have seen her in After Sex, in which she plays one half of a girl-on-girl couple.

Okay, firstly, Mila Kunis is shit hot. Look at her eyes, her mouth, her cute little button nose... Then there's her body. If you did see Black Swan, you'll have seen her lesbian dream sequence with lead actress, Natalie Portman, if you didn't, well, click THIS LINK. (That links to an edited version of the scene, as YouTube doesn't allow the whole thing. It's clearly too hot for them.)

I would have posted a picture of her body above too, but this Ukranian beauty (yep, she was born in the Ukraine) gets little attention paid to her beautiful face, so I thought that was just as good.

By playing the annoying Meg in Family Guy, and having starring roles in After Sex, Black Swan and The Book of Eli, we all know that Kunis is talented.

Not only that but she's also not shy of the odd lesbian scene - Meg also had a little snog with a girl on Family Guy, after she left prison...

Anyway, Mila is a hottie. Whether you like it or not. And there's no denying she's talented.

So get your movie head on and watch her films. You'll pretty much love all of them.

Happy Pride Season!

So this weekend, I attended my first pride festival of the year.

And you know what that means...

PRIDE SEASON HAS STARTED, BABY.

Ohh yeahhh, get the beer out ladies, I know you'll all be attending.

Personally, I thought the first UK pride of the year was actually pretty great!

My weekend consisted of spending far too much money on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, forcing my legless friend to kiss a variety of unaesthetically-pleasing people and being pleasantly surprised by the live acts that performed on the main stage.

So which festivals are you ladies going to this year? London? New York? San Francisco? Let me know!

And maybe I'll tell you which I'm going to... ;)

My Weekly Girlcrush.

Move over Sara Ramirez, there's a new lesbian Latina on the block. (Please don't really move over, Sara, I love you.)

We all watch Glee. And if you didn't before, you do now.

Now that there's a new, all singing, all dancing lesbian couple for you to ogle over.

When I say 'couple', they haven't actually got together... Yet.

But Glee's Naya Rivera (who plays Santana Lopez on the show) is hot stuff.

I mean, look at any picture of her and she looks fucking steaming. (Hot, that is. Not drunk).

Anyway, it's not just that she's physically perfect that I love her. Just last week, Naya presented the GLAAD awards and did a darn good job of it. She had comedic timing, charisma and, of course, that gorgeous Latina face.

Not only that, but presenting the awards showed that Naya really does care about gay rights. She both plays a fictional TV character and also advocates the gays in her every day life. She speaks about her role as both rewarding and exciting and has openly expressed that she'd like her and Brittany (played by Heather Morris) to officially get together.

It really does appear that although she plays a bitch in Santana on-screen, off-screen she has a heart of gold. I mean, I love bad girls, but good girls are just as attractive sometimes. Take Naya, for example.

So that's why she's my crush of the week. She appears to be just a pretty face, but Naya is caring, loyal to her gay fans and a big ball of sweetness.

You can follow Naya on twitter at http://twitter.com/nayarivera.

My Weekly Girlcrush.

Okay, there are 2 things to clear up before I start.

1) I'd choose none of the women I mention in this new weekly post over my girlfriend.

2) My yearly Top 20 Gorgeous Ladies is coming up, so I'm just going to choose random people each week that I often find myself crushing on, rather than listing my FAVOURITE ladies.

Now that's out of the way...

Let me introduce you to Adele.

I get it, you don't need to be introduced to her. Everyone knows her.

Not only is she one of the UK's best homegrown talents, she's now absolutely huge in the US.

Her full name is actually Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, but she doesn't need those extra names. She's now one of those pop stars who don't need a last name. (Think Britney, Madonna, Cher, Christina...) Adele is Adele and that's why I love her.

Not only does she have an amazing voice, her song-writing abilities are tremendous. Her current album, 21, peaked at number 1 in over 10 countries. That's a lot of albums sold. Her first album, 19, has sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the United States alone. And she's only 21.

What I really love about Adele, however, is who she's stepped away from the regular 'conventional' pop star exterior. Everyone thinks of a pop star as a stick thin, semi-naked blonde with a wild side and a wild upbringing. (Again, think Britney...) But Adele is far from that.

Anyone who tells me that Adele is 'fat' has another thing coming. She's not obese, she's not 'chubby', she's REAL. Real women don't look like popstars. Think of the last woman you were sat in a room with. Did she look like Nicole Sherzinger? Nope, didn't think so.

Another positive: she has a super pretty face. I mean, she's really easy on the eye. Her lips, her eyes, all beautiful. She's cute.

So Adele, you're my first Weekly Girlcrush. You make me happy, your music makes me sad, but I love you all the same.

A TV Lesbian Wedding?!

Yep, that's right.

If you're a fan of lesbian pop culture on the silver screen, you'll know that tonight is the night that Callie and Arizona get married! ARGHHHHHHH!

If you don't understand what I mean, I'm obviously referring to the lesbian couple on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, played by Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw, who are tying the knot tonight.

I suggest, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, that you get yourself on YouTube and educate yourself about Calzona. Or Callizona. Or CapMirez. Whatever you want to call it.

There have already been a TON of spoilers, pictures and behind the scenes clips from the wedding, so if you've seen them you'll probably know what to expect.

But remember, this is Grey's, and they always have some surprises up their sleeves.

I think it is about time, in related news, that they showed a real, feminine lesbian wedding on television. And I'm hoping that this one is better than Carol's wedding to her female lover on Friends, which starred an ugly hat or ten.

Call me vain, but I want to see something realistic and lesbian on television, not something weird and 90s.

Uh Huh Her News

I'm sure it's a while since we've properly heard of these two gorgeous ladies.

Yep, you all know The L Word's Leisha Hailey on the left, and the equally beautiful one on the right is lead vocalist of their band Uh Huh Her, Camila Grey.

All you really to know is that, right now, the duo are touring North America and Canada, and I'm pretty sure they're headlining an all-girl music fest in the UK in the summer.

The band also have a brand new EP out titled 'Black & Blue', which you can purchase on their website.

Watch the following video to hear how the pair ended up writing a song for Oscar-nominated lesbian movie The Kids Are All Right, starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore.

The New Naomily?

If you're a Skins UK fan, you're probably going to know who Naomily are.

You know, the really cute lesbian couple from Skins UK's 2nd generation of characters.

Anyway, if you don't know who they are, Naomi (left, Lily Loveless) and Emily (right, Kathryn Prescott) were the most recent teen couple on our screens that portrayed the love of 2 lesbians.

Until now.

The 3rd generation of Skins UK has brought us pansexual Franky (Dakota Blue Richards), whom some believed at first was a transgendered character.

Anyway, the straight-laced, popular Mini (played by Freya Mavor) appears now to have a little bit of a crush on Franky.

Previously, fans saw a young, straight girl in Mini, who lost her virginity to her then boyfriend this series.

However, the series finale hinted a few times at Minky's relationship becoming something more.

But WAIT! There's another person in the mix.

With Franky being pansexual, it seems that she's also caught the eye of a male friend too. Matty (Sebastian De Souza) is clearly in love with her, making it hard for Mini to get a look in.

Anyway, a lot of fans boycotted the show this year, claiming the cast looked 'boring' and many believed they wouldn't live up to the first two generations.

However, if you give generation 3 a chance, they're actually an interesting lot.

You should check it out. Then tell me what you think of Franky & Mini's little love triangle.

Canada or the US?

I'm guessing, as most of my readers are of American origin, that most of you are screaming: WHOA WHOA WHOA, AMERICA IS SO MUCH BETTER.

However, I - a wholly British citizen - am on a much more unbiased debating ground and therefore feel I should express my opinion here.

"What does this have to do with gays and lesbians?" you ask.

Well, the more literature I read about gay marriage in both Canada and the United States, the more I am pushed away from the US and pulled toward Canada.

Of course, we all know that gay marriage is legal everywhere in Canada, not just in 6 poxy states like it is in America. But there is more to the matter.

For instance, in the article I just read by Clifford Krauss, (click his name for a link to the article), he explains that once gay marriage was legalized in Canada, there was little concern or backlash against it. I mean, of course there was some when it came to super, super Catholic parts of the church, but it was nothing compared to the States.

Krauss writes "When Massachusetts' highest court ruled for gay marriage, the issue loomed over American politics." He also reveals how even the most democratic, liberal Presidential candidates vowed to be unsupportive when it came to homosexual marriage.

All this makes me think of how closed-minded America seems. A lot of the opposition against gay marriage's legalization wasn't even from the opinions of those Americans who were overly religious. Some of the opposition came from people who had just been 'brought up that way'. That is, brought up to hate, or at least dislike, gay people.

With Canada's current social and politic state, it seems relatively easy to conclude that Canada would be a much more welcoming place for gay people and their families to live.

However, I wonder if this is not the case, and some of the things I've been reading are misleading?

If you're from either Canada or the United States, please comment and tell me your thoughts on this issue. I am extremely curious, but to me, Canada seems to be winning here.

Please prove me wrong - or right!

Britanna... On or Off?

***WARNING GLEEKS: SPOILER ALERT***

As you may or may not know, there's a constant lesbian 'ship', as tumblr addicts call it, within teen comedy/musical TV show Glee.

Yep, if you're a 'Gleek', you'll know of this non-lesbian love that's been hinted at since series 1.

With Jane Lynch playing an officially straight character on the show, lesbi-gleeks - and straight people! - everywhere have been routing for Brittany (Heather Morris) & Santana (Naya Rivera) to get together and have been optimistic ever since this infamous quote:
Santana : Sex is not dating.
Brittany : If it were, Santana and I would be dating.
And, although this is probably old news by now, for you late coming lesbians: BRITANNA ARE ON!

But how do we know that this is not just some rumour? The show's producer, Brad Falchuck, tweeted this earlier on in February:

Who's Gwyneth? I'm pretty sure all of you who don't follow the show are asking. Well none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, of course!

Stay tuned for more info and possibly an opinion or two on how the producers and writers handle the teen romance. With them doing such a good job with Kurt (Chris Colfer) on the show, we assume that Glee will not do the LGBT community an injustice.

So, who's excited?!
